We are a week away from the beginning on the holidays. Tis the season of indulging. Thanksgiving starts the beginning of the holiday season and eating seems to be the focus of the holidays. Reports of the total caloric intake of Thanksgiving range from 3000 to 4500 which is a lot higher than the recommended caloric intake of 2000 calories or less per day. This is the time of year when people gain those added pounds that they then spend the rest of the year trying to get rid of. You can make it through Thanksgiving without gaining weight and it does not have to be an unhealthy or toxic meal. As you are planning you menu consider ways to make this Thanksgiving a healthy one.
Have you ever gone to the bathroom after a eating or drinking Beets and the toilet looks a slight pink color? There are so many times I forgot I ate beets and I was a little horrified by the inside of the toilet bowl. Well now I use Beets to test the state of what is going on inside me. Beets are a great tool to see if you have low stomach acid and to see how fast your digestive system is eliminating foods.
Most body care products that you buy from the store are full of chemicals and made by scientists in lab coats and face masks and they often don't even clean your skin or hair properly. Products that are natural and organic are always a better alternative, but they can be expensive. Instead of spending a lot money, I have found the perfect combination of inexpensive ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen right now, that can give you the cleanest teeth, hair and skin you could imagine.
I love condiments. I use them with every meal so it is important for me to know what is in them. It is so easy to go to the market and buy your favorite condiment without paying much attention. However, if you start reading labels you will notice that the most popular condiments you would normally buy are packed with artificial preservatives. They are often full of unnecessary sugars, GMO's and ingredients you can't even read. Condiments can be natural and healthy if you make them at home. They are inexpensive to make and if you make a large batch you can store them in mason jars for use all year. Here are 7 of the most common condiments you can make at home:
Amino Acids are not talked about enough and they are necessary in the body, especially for proper brain function. Making sure you are sufficient in amino acids helps to maintain balance in the entire body. Are you suffering from a mood related issue such as anxiety or depression and can't figure out why?
The skin is the largest organ in the body and the outer layer that we present to the world. It is a truly remarkable organ in its direct reflection of what is going on inside your body. It weighs approximately 8 pounds and stretches 22 square feet with about 300 million cells. Laid out in a line, your skin contains about 45 miles of nerves!
You shed about 600,000 particles of skin every hour, which weighs around 1.5 pounds per year, so by the age of 70, you will have shed about 105 pounds of skin! In healthy people, the body produces an entire new skin layer every 28 days and is thickest on the soles of the feet and thinnest on the eyelids.
I’ve always wondered why Mother Nature decided to grow some of her most powerful medicinal foods underground? With the exception of the pepper/chilli families, the spiciest foods I can think of like horseradish, garlic, ginger and onions all seem to develop underground. Well, I’ve found out that there are good reasons for this.
First, there’s obviously two parts to most plants (seaweeds and water plants aren't included in this article). The above ground stem system (stem, branches, leaves, fruit) otherwise known as the aerial system, and then there’s the root system, the below ground system.
The two very different worlds which these plant parts exist in has a lot to do with how and what they produce. The stem system is negatively hydrotropic, which means it moves away from water, while the root system is positively hydrotropic, it moves towards water. And the stem system is also negatively goetropic, which means it is growing up against the force of gravity, while the roots are positively geotropic, they are growing down with gravity.
Probiotics are basically beneficial bacteria. We have billions of beneficial bacteria living in our digestive tract. Friendly bacteria helps us digest food and absorb nutrients efficiently. These friendly or beneficial bacteria are very important to our health. In our gut, good bacteria can displace bad bacteria that inhibit our overall health.
Drinking juices is a great way to get easily absorbable nutrients into your body that you might not otherwise consume. They can help protect against pollutants and inflammatory diseases. Drinking Juices is so beneficial to your health and this is why!
Oil pulling is a traditional Indian detox technique that involves swishing oil in the mouth. I love this because it is so beneficial, extremely effective, cheap, and easy. Oil pulling helps the body's natural detoxification process. Usually it is best done in the morning upon waking but can be done at any time. It can act like a cup of coffee, waking you up, but it also helps remove all the bacteria sitting in your mouth that regular brushing doesn’t eliminate.
